CHRON reported, “Texas registered a strong second quarter for single-family home sales as the Houston region — which accounts for more than 25 percent of the sales — rang up gains in both price and volume, a new Texas Realtors report showed.”
More than 100,000 homes were sold statewide in the second quarter, an increase of 1 percent from the year earlier, according to the 2019-Q2 Texas Quarterly Housing Report. Home sales in the Houston metro edged up 0.1 percent year-over-year to 25,336 in the second quarter.
The Texas housing market experienced a strong kickoff to the summer selling season with more than 100,000 homes sold during the second quarter,” said Tray Bates, chairman of Texas Realtors. “While specific conditions vary by market, the statewide trend has good news for sellers and buyers. Sellers are selling for a slightly higher median price, and buyers have access to more properties for sale statewide.”
Statewide, the median price increased 2.9 percent year-over-year to $245,000 in the second quarter, according to Texas Realtors, which produced the report with data from the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University.
Home prices in greater Houston, meanwhile, rose by 3.8 percent to $249,000, it reported.
